Randy, did you see my post right above yours about modifying the .htaccess file?
That worked for me. It's not like the overlay to Google maps but it is better than nothing.

Re: KML Overlay not working.
If you have access to your server via cpanel do the following.
1) log into cpanel
2) click on File manager
3) download the .htaccess file
4) add the the following lines
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://xxxxx.com/$1 [R=301,L]
where xxxxx.com is your domain name
save and then upload it to your server
You may have to rename it to have the period in the 1st position .htaccess
If you have problems send me an email at jlknorst@gmail.com with your phone number and I'll give you a call.

Re: KML Overlay not working.
Hi, just for clarification:
There are two different problems:
1.) There were some security problems with some browsers, which I think I could solve. There are no changes on your side required anymore. Except one: You need to provide a https-url in the settings. If you have configured a http-url please change it in the settings and ensure that the https-url works.
@jknorst: I think your original web server settings should work now too because I have changed implementation on the Greenalp server. So if you wish you can undo your changes and test if it still works.
2.) Open Street Map is an open project which is maintained by many nice people. But KML is part of Google Maps, and there is no support provided for OpenStreetMaps. Fortunately there are again some nice people who wrote a few plugins providing basic support for KML. So you can expect that KML basically works but I'm afraid you can't expect that every KML-feature will work. I searched for the latest customizations and tweaks of those plugins and integrated them into the server today. So you can try again if your KML-files work better now. I hope they do. If they don't I'm afraid I cannot help more because I'm not the maintainer of those plugins. Of course you can still post your problems here because it is good to know which issues are still open. But I'm afraid those plugins will not provide the same feature-set as the original Google Maps KML feature, which is why I cannot solve those issues.

Re: KML Overlay not working.
Ok, thanks. I figured the mix of vendors was the main part of the problem and that you had no control in that area. I did set my side for https.
I run some test later as I'm on the road now.
Again, thanks for your help.

KMZ format is not supported. You need to enter a KML-URL.
