I use the tracker pretty much any time I'm on the move, so I've set up Tasker to start it as soon as I'm no longer connected to a wifi network, and stop it when I'm back connected to wifi again.
Because wifi networks are generally stationary, this means I'm always tracking when I'm on the move, and I don't have to remember to start or stop the tracker.
Any chance this could be an option in the settings? I'd guess it'd be pretty trivial to implement. Then I wouldn't have to pay for Tasker...
Start tracker on leaving wifi. Stop tracker when back on wifi.

Well, the reason why RTT supports an interface for apps like Tasker is to reduce coding work on RTT side. So generally I do not plan to implement features which are already supported in combination with other apps. Have you tried LLama? It's totally free. I used it in the past to control RTT and it worked like a charm.
